Video Player V2 - better quality, telestrate mode, video exports

  • Mobile-first design so it’s smooth and fast wherever you watch

  • Optimized for real pickleball review use cases, from casual viewing to player development tools

  • Clear modes for viewing, editing, and marking up videos (telestration)

  • New bookmarks, markup, crop, and edit modes—add notes, drawings, or stickers tied to exact moments in the game

  • Auto-generated highlights turn into editable bookmarks so you can refine and export the best segments from the games

  • Export features for our AI highlights + any other bookmarks as MP4

  • Ability to export the video with idle time (dead time) between rallies removed

  • Highest possible resolution so you can see the action clearly without streaming-related resolution issues (fixes streaming glitches and bitrate drops)

Tech preview with no design just to show capability as of Oct 2nd:

Coming along! For the Move Here and Hit Here stickers, the video needs to pause, or go to .25 speed. Display them for only 1 sec of video time (4 secs in slomo). They aren’t relevant longer than that in a fast-paced game and can lead to confusion. I also need a way to reference which player I’m referring to. The stickers will need to be very small because they need to reference a specific spot on the far court. Imagine a Hit Here sticker by the left foot of a player. Can’t be much larger than the foot. Playback will need to zoom to that spot when the sticker is active.

Would it be possible to sneak in a feature here? It would be great if the video playback allowed for interaction with the shot explorer so that I could filter across multiple videos. Often I might have 7-8 games per play session, and I’m curious to review all my 3rd shot drops. I might only hit 4-5/game, but I’d hit probably 30 in the entire play session and it’s a statistically larger sample size for me to be able to review all 30 drops in one go rather than going back and forth between 8 separate games. Maybe there’s a way to select the number of games that will show and/or a time range of shots to show up.

    Video speed

Could you provide a feature that allows the video to be slowed down?

.75, .5, and .25 speeds are available in the web app. .5 is available in the mobile app.

@Jeff Singletary We are actually will be adding more playback speed to both the web and mobile apps when we are able to release our new video player. We are still working on wrapping up some back end changes to have a smoother release of the video player, but will merge this request into that request so you can be alerted when it goes live!

We just shipped this new video player infrastructure. A few caveats:

    • Video markup tools (e.g. notes, stickers, bookmarks, drawing etc) will come in a fast follow (ETA ~1 month)

    • Export features including Just the Rallies (dead time removal) and user selected segments (e.g. highlights or a fun rally) are iOS only currently. We are working to bring this to Android and web next.
