Post-Game In/Out and Projected Landing Analysis
Explore advanced post-game line and trajectory tools that could help players review close line calls and estimate where balls intercepted before the bounce might have landed. This could help players understand when they should have let a ball go, while treating close calls cautiously.
Potential capabilities to evaluate include:
A confidence-based estimate of whether an observed bounce was in or out
A projected landing area for a ball intercepted before the bounce
A clear “uncertain” result when the footage cannot support a reliable estimate
Direct links from each estimate to the relevant moment in Shot Explorer
This is a post-game coaching and review concept, not a real-time officiating system. Standard single-camera footage recorded at 30 or 60fps may not provide enough temporal or spatial precision for reliable close calls. Delivering dependable results may require specialized, calibrated capture systems with higher resolution, much higher frame rates, controlled shutter speeds and lighting, or multiple synchronized cameras.

We’ve reopened this request with a narrower focus on post-game analysis rather than live officiating. We’re reviewing what may be possible with standard footage and what would require specialized capture hardware. This remains exploratory

@turnkit I love this idea too, but it’s really a new product the connection to PB Vision could be the use of our ball-tracking and court detection models.
I would encourage any entrepreneurs out there to experiment with this tech and explore our API for integration opportunities. I am also personally happy to chat about this idea and advise on where I would take things if I were going for a more sophisticated set up like this..
I would think of the system described as a “Mini Hawk-Eye” type of setup for PB

Before I’d even heard of PB Vision I was thinking of how great it would be to mount some overhead cameras that would simply show on a nearby TV or projector a slow-motion automated replay whenever the ball went through the camera view near a line.
Would love to have a local product that would run on a RPi with vision hat, or Jetson Nano, etc. that could do line judging and even score keeping and score display. A cheap LCD projector behind each player up high would be fantastic.
Multiple camera inputs might be fine.
These would sell really well, especially if the line judging could be simply overruled with an app or a wristwatch interface, or foot buttons at the net line.

It would be neat if you could use the display of the phone to manage challenges and show line calls.
