Additional Stat- Targeting/Icing- How many balls were hit to each player?

I would like to see stats showing how many times each player hits to each player or player area across the net. This would be helpful.

I get annoyed when the other team accuses our team of targeting OR icing out a particular player. In rec play we should be more generous/forgiving. In tournament/league play we should absolutely go to the optimal shot placement regardless of who that player is.

Most times, when accused, I really dont feel like targeting/icing was happening. IF it actually happened, it was completely subconscious. My subconscious mind just sees the court/players and suggests the better shot. The “right shot” just happened to be to a player that was out of position or just more vulnerable, regardless of who the player actually was.

Conversely, am I the player being iced out or targeted? How can I support a player being targeted? How can I get more involved if I am being iced out? How can I ask my partner for support if I am being targeted? What are the partner strategies?

    Unfortunately, what was delivered has little to do with targeting. It’s simply the shot distribution, and that’s not targeting.

    Ben Johns takes 80% of the court and 70% of the balls. Believe me, no one is targeting Ben Johns.

    Additional ask. I am going into an MPL style league. 4 person team.
    If I could upload videos to my profile even if I am not in the game. Assign the player names. Then I could get analytics for any opposing team. This could give me advice on how the other team plays. What did or didnt work against them? What their tendencies are? What are their most likely shot placement or combinations? It could be a cheat sheet for how other teams play!!!!

    It would be great if PB Vision could remember player names and team configurations in my profile. This way I could review what strategies worked against particular players or teams in preparation for for match.
    If I could ask AI to remind me what had worked consistently in the past and recommend what to do to continue winning against them. And what definitely didnt work.
    This is probably a higher level stat and AI modeling. But how cool would it be if I could ask PB Vision for advice before a match against a particular team based on past performance and analytics!?!??!?

    Thanks @Jeremy Stout — this was a great suggestion. We’ve started work on a Team Stats view that breaks down each hitter’s shots by which opponent made the next contact, with both counts and percentages. That should make patterns like one player receiving a disproportionate share much easier to spot.

    We’ll label this as observed ball distribution, since the video can show who contacted the next ball but can’t reliably prove intent, and rally-ending balls with no next contact can’t be assigned to a receiver. Longer term, this is also exactly the kind of pattern we want the AI Coach to interpret and turn into practical advice for handling targeting or icing.
